Phoenix, thanks for starting this thread. I'm 31/165 lbs and by no means well muscled, but was shocked at how hard I worked to get my K6 on the centre stand. Dimitri, thanks for the vid, seems I can make an improvement on technique as well.

Phoenix: As you now know, as welcome spectator at the Sunday Afternoon sessions of the Busted Knuckle Garage, I did just that, removed 1" +/- from the centerstand. I always prided myself on my excellent technique with centerstands. But as time has advanced, Phaedrus ended up being lower than I expected, possibly for the good, and I ended up weaker due to a nerve condition. Here's some pics of the final product: (Rear is a stock stand)
The first cut was too short, the tire was barely on the surface still. So I had the welder add a layer of steel strap to each of the feet, about 3/16". An unintended consequence was the new radius on the stand's feet. With that addition, the bike just glides up onto the stand.
The final clearance is on a K2 with 1/2" shorter shocks, a 17" rear wheel, and a /70 series tire. It is low. Saldana racing Products in Brownsburg IN did the work. Those are race shop quality welds, ground down smooth as if they weren't there. If all you had done was the first cut and reposition the strut, it was about $85. With the new feet and the chrome, it has become the world's most expensive centerstand!
