Largest rear tire for a CB350 Four
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:47:52 PM »
I am looking to replace the tires on my cb350 four and I am looking at the avon tyres roadrider for a replacement.  What would be the largest rear tire that I could use for this bike?  I currently have 3.25-18 on front and 3.50-18 on rear.  I am also a little confused when I look at the new avon tire sizes.  Any information would be welcomed.  Thanks

I have Avons on my Z1 and love them.  The original tires on these bikes were measured in inches and most modern tires are measured in millimeters.

3.25" = 82.55 mm, so a 90/90-18 would be ideal....

3.5" = 88.9 mm, so a 100/90-18

Not a good idea to go wider, the tire wear will be abnormal and possibly cause bad handling.

Hope that helps

+1.
These are the same sizes for my 350F. Run them at about 35 PSI front, 38 PSI rear if the bike is stock and you are about 150-170 lbs. Go to 40 PSI rear if she goes with you. ;)

It's a Cafe build.  She will have to stay at home.  Since it is a cafe build, I like the look of the larger tire in back, but I don't want a bike that handles poorly.

Even at the 100/90-18 size, I'd recommend adding air fork caps up front, and run 3-8 PSI pressure up there. This will do wonders for the entry into turns and the recovery from a deep one.
