Ignition coils
« on: December 09, 2013, 05:49:58 PM »
I have recently installed new coils on my 76 cb750k. All is good until I mount them to the frame. The bike will run with the coils not attached to the frame but as soon as I do it shorts and blows my main fuse. Wiring is solid and clean... And they are mounted exactly like the old ones. Please help I am stumped.

You have some other circuit grounded out that should not be!!!
Make sure the points wires are connected correctly with the phenolic/plastic washer in the correct position. Also check the point wires to make sure they aren't turned and grounding!

What brand coils?
Do any of the coil's terminals/connections have continuity with the mounting lugs?

You have a mount touching one of your terminals or wire connections
