« on: December 11, 2013, 02:08:30 AM »
Good morning UK, I am in need of a main wiring loom for my CB550F. Does anyone in the UK have one in good condition for sale?

Your best posting in the main forum. Not much goes on in here. :)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I have a couple 550F Super Sport wiring harnesses but am in the US.  Let me know if that'd help.

Hey, sorry I just saw this.  I have a couple of years and they are both in good shape.  I can take a bunch of pictures and send them to you.  Send me a PM with your email address please.

I believe I have a 74-75 and then a 76-78.  They are both for the Super Sport/F version not the K.  Can you please verify that because there is a difference.

HI, I found one in the UK today for $30 which is cheaper than the shipping from the USA. Thanks for your time, just hope it is the right one. What is the difference between the years? Mine is originally from the states and is listed as a 1976 F2. Cheers.

There are a few subtle changes between the wiring harnesses for a 76 cb550K and 550F.  The main being the right hand controls, starter button and lights.

On the Super Sport K, they have a on/off switch for the lights.  On the 550F, there is no on/off for the lights, they are always on until you press the starter button.  When the starter button is engaged it breaks the loop for the headlight.

One could modify either harness to work on either bike but you'd have to understand the wiring fully.  I personally did not like having to modify my 550K harness to fit by 550F bike.  And finding a replacement 550F harness on ebay in decent condition at a price under $100 hasn't been easy.  DSS does sell a brand new harness for $175, which is a lot, but might be worth it.

There might be some other subtle differences between the two harnesses like the horn power but that is the main difference.

Cheers for the advice mate. I have one on the way and will lay the both out and see what is what. Then i will try to make one good one out of the two. Electrics is not my strong point, but i do love a challenge. Give me an engine any day. Cheers for your advice once again.

Dunno what a supersport K is. The F is the supersport.
European market all had on/off light switches.
No running lights for those models.

You're exactly right, I misspoke.  I'll change it in my post.
