Time for a little nostalgia?
« on: December 13, 2013, 04:59:09 PM »
Whilst trolling through the "general forum", I stumbled on a "pictures from the past thread".
Thought it might fly here as well.
I know the drag racing contingent post one occasionally but I am hoping the reast of us might have a few racing/bike pictures gathering dust they could share.

This was taken at a dirt track meeting around 1981.
Can anybody name any of  the powerplant's the sidecars are running?

Cheers,
Brian

Green one looks like a Kwak triple, stars/stripes looks like a Suzi GT750.

Use ctrl+ to enlarge the picture and ctrl0 to normalize.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Your right about #91 Les.
#90 is a little more exotic though.
One down, three to go. ;D

#90 might be a big TZ, #92 is a 500 Titan, and #93 may be an XS Yamaha twin.

pity i dont still look young ! i was 18 then and had 3 jobs to pay for that rg , i gave 5 grand for it which was plenty of money back then . here it is a year latter after it had been down the road a dozen or so times [ same track from a different angle ]  please marvel at the state of that van ! we went all round europe in that for two years believe me rejeka is a long way from liverpool in a van that only does 45mph with 3 bikes in it . it eventually caught fire on chelsea bridge one friday rush hour . the one that replaced it wasn't much better .

Yes, Laguna Seca, the back-side of the Corkscrew, to be exact. I've got a bunch more slides from that weekend that I've yet to scan.

Scottly, those pics are well taken, very cool. 8)...I know how hard it is getting good shots of things that go that fast.  ...really wish I could contribute to this thread but I grew up at nightclubs, not race tracks...

Simon, there doesn't be much of a photo trail of my early days and that's probably a good thing. Here is a couple from our days on the west coast of Canada (1975). Unfortunately expanding civilization enveloped this racetrack and it's no more. I'm twenty and this was a bike I bought for Deb, but raced on weekends. That's an old shop truck we were given to use. Like nearly everyone else we were young & working our asses off to scratch the racing itch!

Here's a pic I took at Laconia in 74. Nixon eventually won, that's Gene Romero on the TZ, can you name the fellow behind? Shouldn't be too tough for the folks here.
