I just had to do that with my F. put new intake boot and airbox boots on and because they are new they are not squished down already. had some fun getting the box on and lined up with the frame holes for mounting. luckily I had my buddy to help compress the airbox forward enough for me to slip the bolts on. but seriously good luck!

For a 750, lube the boots, install the top half first, THEN install the bottom half. Hair drier might help to warm boots prior to install.

Split the airbox, put the top in place first. I take a medium sized flathead to leverage the box in to a spot where the bolts line up nicely. A taped screwdriver won't chew up the paint either. Once tightened in place put the bottom in there from the left, much easier for me that way

All of this stuff is 100x easier with fresh airbox boots (40$). They seal better and don't wear out your clamps either. The way I do this makes taking off/putting on carbs an easy fast job

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

+2 on the new airbox boots.  Makes things very easy and fast.   Install the new boots into the top half of the air cleaner. You'll notice seams and that the actual boots are slightly angled.  When you install them into the airbox, orient them so the boots angle the box down.  Can't say it enought, new boots are soft enough that you won't have to lube them.   It goes in from the left hand side of bike.  Really, the new boots make things sooooo much easier.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
