Kick Start Thread
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:47:59 PM »
I've searched, yet to no avail.

Lets see some vids of your bike getting Kicked.

I'd personally like to see a Cb550/650 Hybrid getting kicked.

This forum seems to be tied to other parallel universes where the same questions keep popping up.

I searched and I haven't found a kick start thread.

Did you watch the link I just posted. I was pretty mesmerized watching that chick kick that Honda.

 ;)

So yeah I guess you could say I find it mystical. There is something really cool about kicking a bike. I really dig it.

When these bikes were new the coolest thing was hitting the button and being at the next stop before the kick start bikes were even running. That was when all other bikes had to get better or get left in the dust.

And I'm sure you know kickstarters were eventually phased out for the most part to show off how reliable the bike was...

Kickstarting a bike when you have electric start, or removing the starter on anything other than a dedicated race bike is like revving your engine at stop lights. A certain type of person will think it's cool, but for the most part it's unnecessary, wasteful, and you just look silly.

The idea of kick starting is something of the past. When things were more simple. The idea is raw. Mmm

I really wasn't trying to start a debate about is kick start cool or not. Man you guys are bummers.

If you don't like kick starting bikes go start a thread about blah blah blah.

This sux. Why crash down on a good thread idea. Really....

Go start a thread of you pushing a really cool button.

Post pix of mounting the buutton relocated.

Haha really tho. This is all off to a #$%* start of a thread. #$%* man. You guys really bum me out.

Just a thought...

So do you guys remove the kick from your bikes? Makes it look more modern.

have not needed to yet, but if kicker interferes with rearsets?...bye bye kicker...Hey Brat, don't you own a Panhead?...these are not like that.  There is no hard learned special technique to kickstarting them.  Last time I kickstarted my bike was by accident, was on the centerstand, I lost my balance and somehow stepped on the kicker, the bike started, wow.  Watching chicks do certain things is often an entirely different matter...not sure why you want to start a thread full of a bunch of dudes kickstarting bikes that generally start when you look at them wrong...not that there is anything wrong with that.
If it works good, it looks good...

My Two stroke doesn't have a starter....its kick only........

Many bikes I've owned have only had a kickstarter....

I guess if its something you find unique or different that's ok........

Seems mundane to me.......not being a downer......

Fd, I'm with you. I won't be running electric start on either of my bikes. Kicking a bike is nostalgic to me and I love it. There will always be geezers on here that hate everything that reminds them of their mid-thirties.

I'm not a geezer. In fact, I'm probably younger than 95% of the members here. It's just my opinion that kickstarting a bike that comes equipped with a reliable, effective electric starter just seems... hipster.

Would it be seen as hipster if your bike didn't come equipped with it or it was broken when you purchased the bike? My 550 is a bare frame, and my 750s electric start is a crap shoot, some days it works, most days not so much.

Personally, when I'm feeling nostalgic I like to roll start my bike. Though, that's probably due to a misspent youth driving crappy Volkswagens.

One of the reasons to buy my 500/4 was the kick starter.
Not only gives you an emergency aid but it is so bl.. Cool.
If it wasnt for these little things what is the point in buying an artefact over forty?

Admitedly i use more the button than the kick

Just sold a Z50 Kickstarter on ebay. Gave me € 5,50. Just sended it to Danemark. Where the last kickstarter lives.
And a CB 350 kick starter last week. Brought € 3,51

Right on Kraut. I love this forum, but trolls with nothing better to do make it not as cool.

So if someone disagrees with you they're a troll/hater? I guess that makes you someone who puts excessive negative camber on your civic and stretching 195 tires on 8" wheels.

Why do you guys keep assuming I own this and I own that. Weird.

The thread theme is to post vids of bikes getting kicked. Do I really need to explain why a troll is a troll. #$%*ing Christ.

People get #$%*ing stupid when they hide behind a computer.

There is no reason for any debates. The thread is to be for a collection of bikes getting kick started.

Which the SOHC FORUM doesn't have.

#$%* it what. I wish I could change the name of the thread.
