Yamiya painted body parts set
« on: December 17, 2013, 05:51:36 PM »
Anyone have any info on the painted body part kits from Yamiya??

http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=157_167

A complete painted kit for a K1 is $1274.00    and an unpainted kit is $663.00
Of course thats before shipping from Japan.
All the parts are repro including the tank.  Anyone have any idea about the quality?

I bought a body set last Xmas or the Xmas before??
They aren't cheap but the quality and finish is excellent mate.

The wife even gave it the tick of approval which was extraordinary when it comes to bike parts and "boys things"  ;D

Pewe just bought a set (not K1) and thinks the finish is very good.  $1274 is a fair deal, but then you have to ship and buy badges and a cap.  If you can sell your old ones it could well be worth it.

Look here for Pewe's....

Wow, I love the silver.  I know it wasn't a correct color for U.S. bikes, but I've seen pictures of a silver K2 and
it looks fantastic.  IMO the silver is the best looking color for a CB750.  Really makes the whole bike pop.

So I take it that the tank is a metal repro.   Can you tell any difference from an original tank??

It's all pretty well spot on as original mate and I'm happy with it.

As far as I know, the silver paint only came out for the Japanese market.
I fitted the K1 Honda tank badges with the black paint which sits good against the silver.

I'd be worried about me.

I like that combo too being the Oakland Raider fan that I am. Even if I didn't like the Raiders... I still like it. Pewe's also looks good. Neither of these were stock paint for the US but look awesome. I have a friend that has a washer/dryer set that has the most beautiful shade of red ever. Even though it isn't stock...I would still rock it in a heartbeat. I have a 75 with the stock graphics but prefer the earlier (69-72).

I am painting my own in the candy gold scheme. As soon as the misses saw the colour there was no other options on the table.

I'm looking for the tank decals. Easy to find the two stripes but it can't figure out what the other one is in front of the tank cap.

Did yours come with that one Mick I can't see if it is on your tank in the photos?

You have to buy them separately Rob, or as a full decal/sticker kit.

There are a few different places that you can get them from.

That is the decal that goes in front of the gas cap and you may not need it for a correct restoration.

Honda began using these tank decals on the 750 K1 bikes beginning with frame serial number: CB750-1103001

Yes, I bought a tank + side covers. I'm very happy with the finish.
I saw it as too much money 1-2 years ago. I wanted the silver version then.
After searching around on Internet where the price is high for very bad tanks I began to see the Yamiya's tanks as a good alternative for a good restore. It's new without any dents and corrosion.

I could not resist to make my bike Candy Sapphire Blue again. It's my gift to the bike that has given me so much fun many years ago.

The complete sets with tank, side covers, head light ears and air box for the older are very easy way to bring the bike back to life. Just pay and forget  ::)

It would be nice with several sets in different colors to use for a change. It's very quick done. The badges, trims and petcock cost some extra...

I'll order the petcock, decal, badges and trims from eBay.de where it is cheaper for me. (Yamiyas HONDA badges for the later tanks were good though)
EDIT: Fuel Tank Cap complete with locking device is not cheap either. Must be new to match the finish.

The preserve nature, use helmet decal on tank is one thing I'll attach. The bigger one in white. It will increase the Honda original feeling.

-One thing..... Should I protect the tank inside with sealer to avoid future rust?

It's a note shipped with the tank that I should clean it before use when the tank has rust protection. Then fill it with gasoline.

The quality of the repro parts is supposedly second to none.  I heard, but had not checked that they are reproducing 'wrinkle' tanks for sandies & early K0's...

I think that's pretty reasonable, considering it's painted.  The cost benefit of one would be different for every sandcast project.  That said, I like original stuff, and mine looks slightly different in the wrinkles.

Thats not that bad of a price Steve-O, if the quality is what it supposed to be.  I have paid over $900 for each of my CB paint jobs.  I will report back with quality compared to my other paint jobs.

Agreed, but I am comparing what I am looking at getting for my Z1.  I can get a tank, two side covers and a tail piece for $1250.  They are manufactured in Japan but ship from CA, online reviews are excellent.
Will still need to get a gas cap, tank and side cover badges...

As far as I know, the silver paint only came out for the Japanese market.
I fitted the K1 Honda tank badges with the black paint which sits good against the silver.

Hey Mick,   I just did a google search on "silver honda cb750" and found a video of a silver K2
with the black Honda emblem on the tank.  Any chance thats your bike??
