One issue with a sight glass is able to tell how low if it starts getting low. Course, just need a bigger one then

At my work, we have the type with the tube of glass and these little pink flippy things that tell you when the tank is full. They're the cause of many a spill during fuel transfers.

Hey, that's right, I do have a pending 750 project that I've been neglecting.

I sent my oil tank/fender back to Ian Halcott for mods. He's installing a stainless steel sight glass.

After I get it back, I'm hoping to have the bike mocked up.

Jeez Don, I just read through the build, had not seen prior. My mouth is watering; The tank, Cbr front end, everything really. Super clean work and nice job on the piecing together. It has a very consistent look.

Thanks, Jared. I really want this bike as light as reasonably possible, to take advantage of the increased power/torque and modern suspension. I know it's not period correct, so some people may not like it, but it's what I want for this particular build.

Thanks! Most likely 18" F & R. I was thinking of 17" too, but will likely go with 18s - custom one-off Morris Mag style billet aluminum.

With something like this you need to throw out the idea of "period correct"; If someone cant appreciate it for what it is, that's their loss. You are making the ultimate riding machine with a vintage frame. This is bad ass, it's going to haul ass and handle on rails.

Thanks, Jared. The motor is nearly identical in spec to Doctor D's 750SS. The main difference is that I will be running a MGP 4-1 instead of Dave's AWESOME 4-4 Megaphones. Dave's bike is on the lighter side (he shaved significant weight from stock), but mine will have also have a lighter modern front end, wheels, gas tank, seat, oil tank -- so I should be shedding some additional weight. They say every 6 lbs you save is equivalent to an extra hp, but along with power, you also get a more nimble platform, and lighter wheels should create less gyroscopic effect and ease turning.

If you're sticking with the stock CBR controls, may be able to wire one of the momentary features of it to be the MENU button to alleviate another button or switch... Or you could use a micro momentary installed on the bar in a discreet location to operate it.

BTW, you also have the option of how many menu lines you can display. I've set mine to 2 (ODOMETER permanently on top, and Voltage or MPH as toggles below) lots of variables and programming available in that gauge (RPM limit, Gear position, Shift flash, etc). Not to mention IDIOT lights built in and light sensitive LED backlight.

I can't stand their stuff...absolute junk and rubbish-

Wow. I didn't realize it was so open to customization. I think I will just run the single accessory button (since I already bought it) and mount it either on the bars or discretely on the mounting bracket (maybe on the side). MG electronics are pricey but they sure are quality stuff.

Sadly, this build has been moving like molasses. It is not so easy to find someone to machine you custom one-off wheels at a reasonable cost. I've also been squandering my time with my other projects. Distractions!! The wheels are a key element to the mock up.

PLUS, I've quietly engaged Denis Curtis to make me a chrome-moly boxed swingarm (in place of my Carpy Dresda replica). It should be completed in about a month. It will be very similar to the one he made for Brent Waller:
