The round bar looks really nice and good to see that an aus bike can provide you some inspiration

Well. An Aussie company employing an American named Mike Woolaway who built a bike in Venice, California called the American. That said, all of the Deus locations seem to build gorgeous inspiring bikes, especially the Mother Ship in Oz.

Any updates, don?

I wish Seth.  Getting the bugs out of the 750 and the 550 have been taking up my attention.  That, and fab has been backlogged to mock up the tank, custom oil tank, steering damper, seat.  One of the tricks on this build is having access to the oil filler cap -- both to check oil level and to fill.  The oil tank doubles as a fender, so I want the seat to remove easier -- either by zeus fasteners or on hinges.

I'm also considering letting one of my bikes go to allow a new one to enter the picture.  If so, I'll have to figure out which one -- either selling my other 750 or my RC51 or giving the 550 to my nephew (if he showed more interest).

I've been trying to figure out the best way to access the oil tank to check the oil level without having to completely remove the seat. Instead of notching the seat or mounting the seat on hinges, Ian Halcott came up with a great idea. I'm sending the tank back to him so he can install a glass sight to visually check the level without having to remove anything. Pretty cool idea.

a similar idea would be to weld in a vertical fluid level "tube". Since water (and oil) seeks its own level, an external length of clear cross link (think PEX style) of tubing that had a bung at the minimum level, and a return bung at the "max" level. If oil were anywhere in-between inside the tank, it would also be within the tube.

Same idea, but no glass involved. And you (or a DIYer) could modify the tank yourself. Not that Ian isn't/won't do an outstanding job at a very reasonable price. But just offering ideas-

All you need is Aluminium bung, also these sight glasses are very common on machinery hydraulic tanks and come in different shapes and sizes. On some at work we round oval and rectangle. The rectangle are good as they give a broader range level that is visible.

At my work, we have the type with the tube of glass and these little pink flippy things that tell you when the tank is full. They're the cause of many a spill during fuel transfers.

Hey, that's right, I do have a pending 750 project that I've been neglecting.

I sent my oil tank/fender back to Ian Halcott for mods.  He's installing a stainless steel sight glass.

After I get it back, I'm hoping to have the bike mocked up.

Noice!
All a man needs in this world is someone to love, if you can't give him that, give him hope, if you can't give him hope...just give him something to do!
