Just got the following (teaser) pictures from Denis Curtis of CMR of my new swingarm:

All that is left is the new axle and then it will be on its way from Canada

What axle Don. Stock replacement, or one with a big hole through the middle, maybe 20mm?

The axle is made from chrome-moly 4130 thick wall steel tube. Not sure if the dimensions but it is likely identical to yours.

The green 550 is still in my signature. It's a 1975 CB550K1. Right now, I'm waiting for my buddy Jay to fab brackets to mount my AP calipers (aft of the fork stanchions) and to cut spacers for my Lesters. I got longer 77-78 stanchions to fit both the Tarozzi brace and my fender. I picked up some oxidized stanchions, polished them and then had them powdercoated clear. I also got a new pair of upper fork tubes from Frank (FBF). I will be swapping all of the internals (Racetech springs and valve emulators) over to the new forks. I also picked up some machined preload adjusters. The tank also got a sanding a re-clear to get rid of some scratches. I'm hoping to have it roadworthy soon.

The brown 1978 CB550K dropped off my signature until I can figure out its fate. I was collecting parts to rebuild it but I'm having some issues with title. If that doesn't pan out, those parts (TTR400'swingarm, ported head, over bored cylinders, spare gas tank, etc.) will get transplanted into the CB550K1. It's up in the air but all of those parts will make it to one of the 2 550 bikes.

The 550 has been running and complete for about a year, but I doubt it's worthiness as BOTM material. She has pretty paint and some great mods, but no detailed shine or polish to the frame and engine. She's a good little runner and fun to ride. I think she might warrant a nomination ONCE I upgrade the front, brakes and wheels (Lesters). I think she might be a contender a that point.

Does customs hold up parts for a period of time when they come from Canada? Never ordered any parts from Canada but I had the opportunity a while back to bid on something from eBay that was from Toronto. I passed on it because I needed the part fairly quickly and was afraid that customs might hold up the process.

I received the swingarm and it looks damn good. I also bit the bullet and ordered a set of custom/increased 50mm offset triples from Devin at Cognitomoto, since the stock CBR600RR triple has so little offset.

They will look like the following but not have the eccentric offset adjuster -- just a fixed offset.

Picked up another bike porn part. Since I am not running the stock hub and Brembo snowflake rotors, I ordered a pair of Galfer wave rotors (fitment for CBR600RR wheel) -- not the insane superbike ones but the petal rotors (still cool). They will look like this:

I knew I had to get rotors, since I was no longer using the larger Brembo snowflakes, so I could buy some used CBR600RR rotors or pay a little extra and get something befitting the rest of the bike.

Hah! Finished? They are never finished!

My next step will likely be sourcing shocks. I am between choosing Works, Race Tech or Fox. I am leaning toward Fox, but have to make up my mind. Much thought and consultation has gone into revising the triples and swingarm to maximize handling. I may also need to re-spring the forks when I have a final wet weight.

The biggest stumbling block is getting custom Morris mag replica wheels sourced. I have a manufacturer in mind, but I'm trying to figure out cost and production time. I also need to sort out what type of rear brake, since I want a rear disc brake (not sure if I will go with a F-type or some type of hybrid-modern like the front). That needs to be sorted first before I can get wheels produced. Well before that time, Devin will be done with my new triple trees, and the only thing left to source will be carburetors (likely Mikuni RS34s).

So who knows. It's a journey! Once the wheels are in production, things will go pretty fast, since everything else (except those things above) are already sourced and waiting.
