New member/rider from KY
« on: December 17, 2013, 06:03:42 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been lurking around the forums for a while in the process of researching my first motorcycle purchase -  I figured I may as well join! I'm a college student right now, splitting my time between western KY and Lexington KY while I'm in school. My dad used to take me on rides on his motorcycles when I was growing up, and now that I have the means I'm looking to get my own. I have done a bit of dirt riding, but it has been several years and I have never been a street rider. I have my eye on a CB500 four that I plan to check out this weekend, so hopefully I can officially include myself in the ranks in the near future! I'm less than a confident writer online and have a tendency to drift away from forums, but I'll do my best to stick around! Looking forward to more time here.

Did you find the 500 locally?
I was looking at a really nice 550 but the guy wanted too much for it so I picked up the current 750.
What are your plans for it?

Perhaps I'll see you around

It's in Nashville, so not really local I guess. I originally thought I wanted to do a bit of a cafe look, but this one seems to be in great condition and pretty much stock cosmetically, so I plan to keep it as-is and learn to ride and maintain it. The maintenance inherent with a 40 year old bike does scare me, but they seem to have a reputation for being reliable and relatively easy to maintain when necessary.

Cool. Let me know when you get it and I can help out with maintenance if you want.
Not that I know a whole lot but can pass on what I've learned so far.

Update on the introduction!

Picked this up today, really excited to get on it. I took it for a quick spin down our country road, but it's a little wet out so I guess it will be garaged at least until it dries up outside.
