Think of buying this CB750F2!!!!!!!!
« on: December 21, 2013, 06:39:26 PM »
Here the CB750F2 I'm thinking of adding to my small stable.

It a 1977 F2, not the best looking CB but it's worth saving from the breakers!!
Only one owner with 42000 miles on the clock, the last time it was on the roads was 1999. It still green log book (the UK riders will understand)

I realise it need sorting before I can get her on the road again, she starts on a power pack and doesn't sound too bad, selects all gears ok.

She need s a couple of disc maybe a caliper or two if I'm lucky just a rebuild kit. Front mudguard, tank & side panels reprinted and new badges, a closer panel behind the seat. Engine service kit, carb rebuild kit, a battery, few new cables, a leaver the list could go on & on!!!!

Anyone on here let me know what it will roughly cost to get her back one the road?
I haven't made the owner an offer yet!! So judging the photos what do you think it worth??

Personally, I would pay over $1000 for it, but the market is much different here.

How much it's worth is always a tough question to answer because it all depends on how badly you want it and how the market is in your area. I paid $700 for my F2 earlier this year and it had a screwed up title, at one time had a vetter fairing so it had no headlight bucket, horns or front turn signals and junk brakes from setting too long. Took another $200 to sort all of the above out but I love it.

It's pretty much impossible for us to estimate what it might cost to repair.

Do some research, I believe that the late model F's had some valve wear issues and the miles on this one are high enough to be a potential area of concern. F2 carbs can also be more difficult to get parts for, even here in the US where more of them were sold.

I'm  fan of the F2, but get it as cheaply as possible.

I paid $455 for mine in 2003.  Probably spent another 3 or 4 grand after that, but it shore is purty.
