Tire dimensions are important, front and rear match each other and the rims.

100/90-19 front, 120/90-18 rear on my CB750 with original sized rims.

Dave500 and I have experimented with the Avon Roadrider and Pirelli Sport Demon on his 500 and on my 750......

From experience......

Avon have a bit more grip but tend to wear only slightly faster.

Pirelli have only slightly less grip but wear slightly longer.

In the real world unless your absolutely flogging the hell out of it you will not notice much difference between the 2

+1 on the avons. come in tons of sizes. have them on one of my 350f's and the 73 cb500k. the distanzia is a cool tire too and look great on the cl's

I like the Metzeler ME880 tires. I have Bridgestone Battlax BT45 tires on one of my bikes at the moment and I can't complain for the price.

Hi Mooshie - just an FYI.....the Avon Roadriders are made of a relatively soft compound rubber, hence the good grip.  However, this comes at a price, they will wear quicker than a harder compound tire.  I have them on my Z1 and only expect 4K miles out of the rear tire and am ok with it.

While we're on the subject of tires whats a good wet weather on? I'm in rainy FL and my rear wheel currently has the traction of melting ice when its wet. Someone recommended dunlop tt100's.

Michelin Pilot Activ, Bridgestone BT-45, Shinko 230 or Pirelli Sport Demons.
All are good tires even in water/snow.

That's why I like the Bridgestone Battlax BT45's so far. They are a dual compound tire with a harder compound in the center and softer compound on the sides. This helps the bike stick in the corners and doesn't wear out the center of the tire running straight down the road.

Last year I switched from the Metzeler Lasertecs to the Avon RoadRiders (on my 1975 CB750F), and I really really like the improvement.
Noticeably better grip.

Interesting note on the dual compound Battlax's  I might consider that for my touring bike since that will see a lot of highway miles.

That's why I like the Bridgestone Battlax BT45's so far. They are a dual compound tire with a harder compound in the center and softer compound on the sides. This helps the bike stick in the corners and doesn't wear out the center of the tire running straight down the road.

Agreed, I have the BT45's on my K4 and like them very much.

Ugh! 4,000 miles?  That is less than one trip for me.  Well that clearly will not work.  Looks like I will have to go with the Bridgestone Battlax BT45 or stay with the Metzler.  I get a lot out of them.
Here I thought I had it all figured out!
