So tonight I was at my buddy's place in the garage packing up my stuff in there and getting everything ready to move into my new place and did a few things while I was down there.
I replaced my spark plugs which a couple were black and a couple were white from running #$%*ty and not being sync'd (I marked which were which and put them in the boxes). I also cleaned the surface of my points a bit till I get new ones and put the covers on the clutch and points so I don't forget them and loaded up the gaskets I ordered awhile ago and packed them flat.
This moving stuff sucks! After I inspect my sons uncles truck Saturday night I may ask him to load my bike in his truck and help me move it otherwise he won't get inspection stickers ;) .
I have so much more equipment here and a actual work bench which is super nice.

I've 'tried' to work w/o a bench or vise in the past..,on my knees and laying on my side...& man it DOES suck.Glad to hear you're going to have a bench.

I will not only have a work bench. I'll have space so I can get on all sides of the bike. I ordered some 2 condenser's, points (NOS), tach cable, unifilters, and plug boots. Once I get those the bike should be at my place and ready to work on. I will still have to lay under the bike like you said because the basement ceiling is not tall and no way of getting it to my height but it gives me somewhere to put my tools which is a plus.

I wanted to mention that my favorite air filter to use is the one that fits in place of the stock original air filter and fit's inside the Air Box;if you have individual filter pods it makes it tougher to fine tune and adjust,  iMO which brand NOS points did you get, ND's ?

Well... Apparently the brand name of the points are confidential. I asked what brand they were and they sent this response to me: "We do not give out our sources but they are made to OEM specs"
Are they being serious because that must be a joke or something right? If they look crappy or just don't line up, I'm just going to buy another set that actually has the brand stated. Too bad all I can find is the poorly made diachi ones. I did decide to start the bike just to see what it does and it runs a million times better with the right plugs in there and the boots tightened down. I am going to work on valve adjustment and cam chain adjustment once it get it here and after I get my new parts to put on. I'm thinking on buying some #80 jets which would be my first step in the right direction to getting her tuned right with the pod filters which are the biggest pain in the butt from what I hear.

That thing w/ the points is tough to accept,who did you buy them from ? I hope it wasn't hondaparts-direct.com because that means I can't trust them anymore.
I'm glad to hear that your engine is improving & getting smoother.

I would ditch(return)the pods in favor of a stock airbox & High Performance filter.Putting pods on a CB400F is a BIG job to 'dial in'.it'll take you countless hours.Pods are really better for race track use only.    IMHO.

I just looked on Ebay for you and I think I found a pair(2 sets) of NOS  'ND' Original Equipment points w/ a picture to confirm from the Ebay seller name :'tomscycl4uux'  and they're item# 221338266876.
The listing say's they'll fit all CB350F & CB400F and they have part#'s too.
I just looked a few minutes ago and it's a "buy it Now" add.I would message the guy and confirm that these are the same exact ones in the picture that are listed in the ADD just to be sure; if they are I'd grab'em for 19.95 + small shipp. for both sets because they don't always have them..,especially for both sets.They have a decent Return policy on them also.

They got back to me and the company said it was Mai ding points. Never heard of them but I may just get the others after trying these and see what happens.

I bet they're Chinese. Original Honda Nippon Denso(next to TEC  ;))are the Best you can buy and they'll last you at least 4 times longer(200 times longer w/ the HondaMan electronic ignition  ;D) and they won't wear down the fibre cam rubbing blocks as much as the Chinese points.I hope you can buy'em before they're gone because it looks like a Deal.
Andrew,I think any new ones that still come from Honda directly(according to Mark-HondaMan)will be Chinese half the time.I only order them from Honda if they can specify for Sure that they're ND's.,or better yet TEC's  ;)

They are apparently Taiwanese product and they are a pretty big company making OEM parts for car company's and all that jazz. I had fun tonight while I was taking a break from reading the shop manual and took a picture of my work bench and some of the bike stuff I got in the mail. I can't wait till she's here. She may be 3 miles away but the hills make it stupid. I miss living in a flat state. Haha!

I staged it with every old tool and product from olden times. I'm just glad that I have everything I need. I may be getting a welder here soon so I can fabricate some stuff.

So today was a good day. I brought my baby home! The only poopie thing is that she has to stay the night outside till I clean a space in the basement to get her going for real! I have more stuff that has been piling up since my last post so I have a laundry list of stuff to do. Bought new:::- ceramic silicon paint, header wrap (black), muffler (too loud from the reviews), muffler packing, and stainless zip ties. I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting but just thought I'd tell you all what's going on just in case you thought I gave up.

I have a back door with no stairs and a path leading straight around to the door!   ;D that's why I'm super excited. I just have to move a refrigerator to be able to open the door so my dad and I can get our 400's inside. It's going to be the place to be soon enough. I have the tarp on the bike since were expecting rain tomorrow. She hasn't seen rain since I have had her but it's going to happen sooner or later.

Yeah. I drive on to the sidewalk, down a path between the houses and around the back into the basement after it's cooled down a little. I'm pretty stoked it's home and the thing I do to calm me down when I'm mad is work on something and I have plenty to do. I'm thinking the first thing is resistor boots, points and condensers then exhaust and air filters then try syncing it and possibly throw some #80's in there to start them maybe move the needle up a notch. One thing at a time ofcourse. That's the plan so far.

I got a update but I'll just post pictures later but I did the following the past couple days:::: put spark resistor caps on, took the exhaust system off, painted the headers with VHT header paint, got a brand new muffler, repacked the muffler with new packing/more than it had which wasn't much, wrapped the headers in black DEI header wrap, and installed my air filters.
I wanted to run it as it is to see how it worked with the new muffler and filters before I threw the #80 jets in. I need to work out the seat mounting soon before I start making the seat pad. I hope everything goes well once I "try" syncing it as is. I know it will be different with the new jets installed but one thing at a time.
I still need to install my new points and condensers but I'll do that when I go on vacation next week so I'm not in a rush to finish anything (you can't rush perfection ya know?)

It's not running that great yet but maybe if I could figure out how to post a video I would. I need to tune it, do the points and condensers and maybe jets. I would have tonight but it's a little dark and I don't want my roommates (my mom & dad) to kill me! Trust me! I'll def get a video up once I dial it in a little better or worst case I could post one of it running super poopie.

Nice looking muffler,I think you'll have to do some messing w/ the main jets and the needle position,etc. to fine tune the jetting for the muffler.

Yeah, I'm thinking on installing my #80's and moving the needle up one notch. From reading bunches of posts (from what I can tell) that's more or less the baseline setting. I removed the matting in the new muffler which wasn't a lot and replaced it with more better quality stuff hoping to quiet it down but I'll be ok with the loudness. It is running a little rich because little fire balls were coming out so maybe move my slides down a bit before I start syncing. Should I have my air screw out 2 turns or in a quarter? I just need a base line if anyone has a starting point that'd be nice.

When you do jetting keep looking at the color of the burn on the center electrode of the plugs,make a change,put in fresh plugs and take the bike for a HARD,fast ride and then take a look again at that center electrode on your spark plugs.
I believe others will speak to you here about this also...jetting is a process so make sure you have the exhaust and air filter you're going to Keep stay on the bike for the duration of the jetting,otherwise you'll have to do it all over again.
The easiest thing to do I think for you is to put the stock airbox back on and it'll make it a LOT simpler and less time consuming for you;pods are a pain.
