Second best Christmas gift ever!
« on: December 25, 2013, 07:03:52 PM »
First was my new grand daughter 5 days ago! :P

Second is this "barn fresh"1972 CL350 from my daughter and son in law (who also gave me the grand daughter) So awesome! Not sure what direction I'm going with this build. Was thinking mostly stock but with a bit of lean towards a dual sport Scrambler built for back road blasting and dirt road sliding, with a few single track trails thrown in. Sound like fun?

2 nice gifts!    Did the CL come with the heat shields?  Keep it stock, or if you do any mods make sure what you do is reversible as there is a decent resale value for the bike...Larry

No heat shields were with the bike. It's in my nature to heavily modify bikes so I doubt it will be close to stock lol. If was in better shape I might consider a full OEM resto but as far as resale goes it would cost too much to restore if I was interested in selling it for a profit.

Without the shields(they are almost unobtainable) stock is almost out of the question.  Have fun with it...larry

Terry,

Great bike.  I have a '72 also, its got the Flying Dragon paint scheme on it.

These are really fun!  looking forward to your project!

I have a spare shield, it is cracked, but could be fixed pretty easily.  Give me a PM if you are interested.  It will definitely keep your LH inner thigh from cooking to medium well!

As I said, it is unlikely it will be a OEM resto so the shields arent an issue. If they were, I have a set of shields on another CL that are pretty rusty but could be re-chromed.
