Went to the shop tonight knowing i was going to get those Handlebars off and victory was mine!!

I first labeled all the wires I will be reconnecting-Hope i get it right!!

Only bad part is i tore the shrink wrap on parts of the wires.  So whatever i re-wrap it with is going to have to be slick. SO something other then electric tape as that would grip the inside of the bars.  Man these were a pain to get out!!

Aslo managed to remove the other kickstand.  I never use it and it just seems like unnecessary weight to me.

And so begins the "Don't need, but to good to throw away pile"

The center stand is nice to have for maint, especially cleaning the rear wheel and lubing the chain.
Keep it on the shelf and reinstall when needed.

Another thing to bear in mind when leaving the mainstand off; some owners report problems with carburetor fuel leaks when the bike is parked up on the prop stand for any length of time.

Thats a good thing to think about, but i have never used it, and i always turn off my gas, so if they were to drain it would just be whats left in the carbs.  But thanks for the advice!

Just noticed your comment regarding your flasher unit having a missing connection, can't see that it's been picked up yet. I think you'll find that's how it's meant to be. Mr Honda fitted a two-pole flasher unit, but supplied a spare earth (green wire) to give the option of using a three-pole unit.

I know what seed is ;) What's cope long cut?

Well i ordered a 3 prong flasher from DCC anyway ;D  and Cope Long Cut is Copenhagen Long Cut Dip, or Chewing Tobacco.  Long cut refers to the length of the cut of Tobacco.  You pinch a bit of it and put between your gum.  Makes you Buzz like non other!

The splicers are a kinda brand name for them, ngk makes them. Snip the wires, tighten to old, stick new in and tighten. Don't take it the wrong way but that is the kinda stuff you use the search bar for. It helps to not derail the build thread/clog it up unnecessarily.

Good luck with the labels but it will serve you better in the future to just learn the wiring colors. It is pretty simple anyway, just match your colors lol. Unless you are colorblind, then its a b!tch

I mean its a "Project Thread" so i don't think the question was out of order.  And yes I am very color blind, and with these old wires with even more faded colors, they all look grey to me so i had to label them.

Figured i would get a few things done before watching the Big Game tonight.  Used the degreaser to clean what grease was left off, burry picture but you get the idea:

Attempted to clean Carbon Buildup off the header pipes.  You can see the one i cleaned and the one i did not.

Used degreaser and sand paper to clean up the front fender, some deep rust spots, but got it done pretty well

After that I did 4 coats of PlastiDip to protect from future rust and ease clean off eventually.  PlastiDip is good stuff, and i like how you can take it off if you so please! I think it turned out well!

Why do you only have 2 new spark plugs in the pic? Doesn't your bike have 4?

Got the wires through the bars today and began to assemble the controls, then the first causality of this build happened.  The wire that runs from the starter button broke off :'( It is part of the bottom peace that clamps on the bar. Looks like i will have to solder the wire to where the connection meets.  Does anyone have any input on this? Im not really sure what to do here and im worried this is going to set me back.  The pictures are pretty hard to see but the green wire unconnected is what snapped.

You can barley see the exposed wire here:

Face of Disappointment

if Someone could let me know what i can do to fix this i would appreciate it!

They are the OE controls made by Tec. The 750 K0 controls are identical to the cb500 k0-k2. Even the Honda part numerals match.

1970's Honda controls are all very similar.  Unfortunately, that starter button was a poor design used by all.  So, if I find any rh control with a good starter button for a good price, I grab it up.  Often, slight wiring mods have to be made to make it work.  Many here have successfully rebuilt their controls.  I have had success with everything but that starter button.  It will take a delicate touch and some strong soldering skills to do it successfully.  Search for member SohRon.  He has some awsome posts concerning this stuff.
