These work really good for removing old gaskets. The threaded part is 1/4". I take a long 1/4" bolt and cut the head off. Thread it into the roloc adapter and use a 3/8 hand drill for the stud you just made. wa la you have gasket grinder. If you go this route BE CAREFUL with these things!! They will take aluminum off in a hurry and ruin your cover.

That wheel looks good for Hard gaskets,I usually suffer along w/ a few safety razors and take my time;once the Old gaskets are history I know I'll never have that problem w/ that engine again.

Ya these things can make good parts into junk if a person isn't careful! I use a utility knife a lot too.

I use an exacto knife with the pusher style blade. It is flexible enough to get up under the gasket and stay there. It isn't strength you need but the flexibility to really work the blade end around and keep under the gasket.

The paint near the oil filter on the frame looks great.

Thanks man! I Rattle can'd the Frame a couple pages back!

Most likely the route i will be taking.  Just don't want to destroy a good cover.

I recently had to do this on my cb350f, I found the solvent was useless. I wouldn't waste your time with the solvent. I bought the 3m gasket remover pads for the drill and that worked for me. Good luck

If you have a dremel you can get get these. They are hard enough to eat the old gasket but won't damage the aluminum at all. http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Accessories/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=EZ471SA

Spent most of today painting and running wires and connecting everything back up in the headlight bucket.  And it all works! The rebuilt switches work perfect and the new bulbs in the gauges are very bright!  Maybe not vintage, but they are good looking!  Installed a new turn signal relay and the new ones flash when my old ones didn't.  Its just nice to know all these little things are working!  Also used my Dremel to remove what was left of the old gasket. Don't have any pictures of how it turned out, because it went right to painting after that.

Anyone know where this wire connects?

Seriosly about to pull the trigger on that 175 when i see this a hour away from me!  Looks a little rough but its a bigger bike in fair condition.  What about those high miles though?

If he has a title, buy it. The missing parts are pretty available and loads of those bikes about

+1

If you don't buy it I will!!!!!  That is a restoration candidate though, looks very nice.  I have a '72 in those colors, until a fire broke out next to it at a shop.  Now its burnt and rusty....  Soon to be known as project "Kemuri"

Also, that brown wire would hook into a European Front Parking light, which you probably do not have on your Headlight bucket.  So it does not attach to anything.  You can check to see if the power switched on when the Key is in the Parking Position.

who cares? worst case scenario, you may need to re-ring it. Plenty of these bikes run for over 100k miles if properly maintained. For $550 you aren't getting a stock, new condition bike.

Alright you all talked me into it! I set up a appointment 2 days from now with the guy!  Just worried someone else is gonna come along!
