Homo Sapiens Idiotus
« on: January 01, 2014, 04:53:48 PM »
For the first time in my life, I'm seriously entertaining the idea of getting completely out of this game. It's degenerated into nothing but another status war. The cruiser crowd. The snootiness, the airs, the phoniness, the complete separation from logic. Having people who've just bought their first bike ever informing me that my bikes are crap because they're not that brand.
It took 38 years for the ignoramuses to finally get to me.
I should've gotten into sleds; none of that crap with them.
None of this is directed at the fine individuals and free-thinkers on this site.
Happy New Year.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

Whoa KC, this is the first time I have ever seen you REALLY wound up like this, I think. Sure hate that your New Year has this kind of a start. You know that anything you need to talk about, I'm all ears and am there for ya. Just saying. I DO hope that you can have a Very Happy New Year brother.

Don't abandon what's made you happy for 38 years. Keep the faith.
It's still friendly out there. Only a few are the ignorant. Have a cold one, sleep on it, and enjoy the ride 8) We'll ride with you any time.

Riding motorcycles is a solitary pursuit anyways.............

After all....there isn't anyone on it helping you ride.

Find a better group of people.

We went on a ride today. A Kawasaki ZR-7, two CB500/550's a Ducati Monster 1000 and a Harley Rockster.

No one felt left out or looked down on or molested.

Interesting topic, I was just relating this week about how back in the 80s when I started riding the "wave" was a whole lot different than it is today. Back then, it was Jap waved to Jap, Harley to Harley, BMW didn't wave to anyone, and depending on how big a boy you were was how hard the flipping off between Jap and Harley.
Nowadays with all the reelie old guys (anyone 12 years older than me) riding cruisers, they all wave at everybody including liquor cicles.
Personally I don't do it until I get the first one...unless the chick on the back is scantily clad.

KC, I get it to, when most of the #$%*s spend more on the fringes of their chaps or handle bars than I did on my bike, their problem, they are poseurs and they will always be around, consider what would happen if they had a breakdown on say the Cabot trail, on the road to Solvang in the low desert or say on the Island (Vancouver that is) around Gold River would they be able to get CAA there to pick up their Bike and would they then have to ride in the cab of the truck then back to civilization ( how declasse ) where as you, who knew something about it would probably be able to fix a minor problem and then go on. Of course the ideal situation would be, when they are stranded to offer their lady a ride (doesn't make any difference if they accept) as far as the crotch rocketeers go if something breaks how long will it take to get the plastic bits out of the way so they can peer at the things underneath in puzzlement. Fahh money doesn't buy understanding or for that matter enjoyment as far as bikes go.

No need to let the attitudes of others to decide what you do.  Just sounds like you need different riding partners.  They must not be friends cause real friends would not do that....so why the fck are you hanging around with these guys?  If it's just strangers at some bike gathering who cares what they think.
I find that most people seem interested in my old bikes...I get questions at stoplights all the time.  Granted I also get ignored by the new cruiser bike crowd at times but I don't care.  I am not at interested in them or their bikes either.  One time I pulled up to a roadside tavern and there was three of these types there oohing and ahhing over their bikes.  A little ways past them was this minty Yamaha RD350 and I had to walk past them to get a look at it and I totally ignored them like I was looking right through them...and then I whipped out my camera to take a shot of the RD before going inside for a drink.  ;D

Ok, I reread your original post and you are offended by someone, well in your words "Having people who've just bought their first bike ever informing me that my bikes are crap because they're not that brand." If ill informed poser wankers with absolutely no idea of what they are dribbling on about offend you,  then maybe you have a problem, fcukwits are there for your amusement, not to be tormented by, give them the respect they deserve......NONE.... >:(

not true, the older bikes just look better, but do have easier servicability, metalurgy has come leaps and bounds, automatic machining tolerances have aswell, injection brings power with ecomony and less service requirements, for all these advancements though the soul has been delivered on a plate, and its what new bikes have lost,or didnt have in the first place, old bikes have soul, like an old well worn leather jacket?
