Chef - I may get to see your powerplant on Friday as I'm headed down to Bill's. It would be great if you happened to be near enough to grab a coffee Saturday before I take off?

looks great Bill, after seeing that in person I know that he is a happy camper!
now to finish the engine and get the bike done. I am full of anxiety and excitement. Just have to clean and polish one more exhaust pipe, that's about it!

Bill, I'm no expert, but that doesnt look ready to run? It seems to be missing something, yet I can't quite seem to put my head on it  :D

Stop sitting around gabbing with Sam and get to work! The two of you are probably getting soaked in Boddington's and playing with BabyFace. There's a motor to be built, Boys!

Bill's pictures make me happy and anxious. here are the updates on my end.

since then have added a Hella horn in the stock location and it just about looks the same other than the horn being slightly larger and having an exposed diaphragm vs covered. so it's pretty much a drop in replacent, you just need to remove the stock horn from the horn bracket and mount the new horn to the bracket.....man that thing is LOUD! all wiring is working properly

Also cleaned up and polished the exhaust pipes. no holes, cracks, or dents, but a lot of little scratches that show up when you get close. I can get new mufflers from DSS but they would look so out of place on the original headers that it isn't worth it. finding nice chromed headers has been an impossible task so for now I've given up. I'll let my dad find em haha.

I also scored the ever elusive-unless-you-pay-crazy-money "honda" stator cover. I scored a "cb500t" one for $35 shipped. no scratches, cracks, dents, or gouges. Just going to polish it up....and sell it for $250...kidding of course!

Bill: did that case also have a chipped off piece right after the mainshaft pin above the bearing? Seems pretty normal.

Hopefully that shifter arm works well….I've gone through three and had to get one specially made. They are as rare as dinosaur turds.

I didn't see a chipped piece, but that means nothing! Haha. I had to get shift forks, shift drum, and end pieces, shaft and linkage appear straight, we'll be finding out soon! It's off to trip on torsion bars!  ;D How's your's coming along? Bill

Cool! Mines been coming along. Waiting for the countershaft seal and then I'll just need to seal the cases and put everything else back on!

Finally had a machine shop make a spindle out of two. It looks straight, sits correctly on the star wheel, so we'll have to see about it. Hate having to take stuff back out and apart so I'm leaving no room for error!

I have a baggie of fork pins, could have gave them to you. Let me know if you need anything else transmission-related. Looks like you're pretty much done with it though!

Been working on the SL350 in the meantime….keeping myself busy in the garage…keeps nice and cool at 85F. Sweat dripping down my ass.

Nice rebuild work there Bill. The only thing I haven't done yet. Got myself very damned well aquainted with this transmission though.  :(  :(
