Topic: 750F engine color 1975

So I'm buying this bike, which is a 1975 CB750F.  The fork lowers and engine are black.  I haven't seen it in person, but is it safe to assume this isn't the stock engine/fork color?  I know later F's went black, but I don't know when.  Maybe a later engine, but given the stator cover is black also, I'm betting on a paint job.  Oil filter cover is black as well.  Maybe it was done to blend in with the fairing?

1975 and 1976 engines are unpainted. 1977 750F was the first year of the black engines.

       Those forks are painted black(not stock) and are not 77-78 because that single brake caliper would not mount to the later forks. The stator cover is black on the 77-78 750F but the face surrounding the "Honda" is polished aluminum, you are correct in noting it has been painted. 77-78 750F oil filter housing has an extra cooling fin plate behind it and requires a longer filter bolt to mount the two pieces to the engine.

     Aside from the turbo, paint,exhaust I don't see any difference from a stock '75 i.e. brakes,suspension,etc.. and with the signals and lights still mounted it doesn't appear to have been used for track. A "street" turbo, interesting.Since it has been fitted with a turbo I would hope the owner would have some info on the engine particulars. Nice find,BTW
