Bypassing Auto Fuel Shutoff Valve on 81 CB650
« on: January 09, 2014, 01:13:54 PM »
Wasn't careful enough when pulling the carb boots off my carbs and in the process accidentally broke brass fitting that attaches the Auto Fuel Shutoff valve to the #2 carb.   (red circle on attached)

Looks that part is no longer available to purchase anywhere on the planet...  I've seen some suggestions for just bypassing the AFV altogether.

Anyone try to make a replacement part for this?  Or know of where to purchase one?

If not, and I have to bypass the feature, anything tricky related to that?  I suppose I just trace the hoses from the fuel tank to the carbs and bypass the AFV by joining the fuel hoses....

Thanx

Plug the vacum port and remove that pos valve.     Do remember to shut off petcock at nite.  If you have to have it I have a few of them ports laying around if I can find them.

+1.  Getting rid of that vacuum petcock is a common technique among 650 folks.  I don't even think you can find a rebuild it for it...

Bypass the fuel cut off, and if your're lucky, get a set of VB44B or VB44C carbs.
