1978 750 F3 value
« on: January 07, 2014, 07:13:05 PM »
I'm looking for some advice on price range for a 1978 750. Unfortunately I don't have any too many details so I realize it would be a bit of a wild guess, just looking for a broad range.

What I know is that the owner bought it new, rode 4500 miles and parked it in his garage. Claims it was in perfectly good running condition, never crashed, etc. He says that the brakes are frozen but no idea if the engine is seized up or not. From the couple of very blurry pics I got it doesn't look like it has too much in the way of rust, etc. Just very dusty and all original with no apparent dings or other damage.

Thanks!

Pictures for us to see would really help.  If he has the title, and the engine is not frozen....max $1000.
I'd offer 500 and see where it goes....

If it only has 4500 miles and it's like new with ONLY frozen brakes and dust it'd be worth a lot more than $1000. It's very simple to kick the starter pedal! It's very simple to clean it up. If in next to perfect shape with brakes repaired it might bring $4000 to $5000 from the right audience with those miles and fresh tires. If he's not willing to clean it up and fix the problems he has an unknown here and he can't ask those big bucks so $1000+. I'd base my decision on ACTUAL mileage (should have original tires at 4500 with the back having a fair amount of wear) and cosmetic condition. Nice shiney new or like new parts are not obtainable from Honda and if you could find replacements they would be very expensive. Brakes are easily repaired. Frozen engine could get expensive and time consuming but is VERY repairable. That could even take a little oil, etc injected into the cylinders and let it sit for a day or so and it might turn over. A good exhaust, seat, tank and side covers are worth quite a bit over $1000.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
