'78 CB550 PD Carbs / Choke is stuck!
« on: January 05, 2014, 12:13:20 PM »
Hi All,

Having a problem with my PD carbs, I disassembled them after not being run in 20+ years, cleaned them thoroughly and replaced gaskets, etc. When I put it all back together, the choke is almost impossible to open/close... the choke plates are rubbing the sides inside the intake opening, and generally just look a little off. ? I have to force them open and closed with my hands. I put it all back together as it was, same hardware, etc... but the choke just doesn't want to work properly. Anyone run into this and know what the problem might be?

Thanks so much for any insight. I did do a search before posting this and didn't find anything exactly like this scenario.

FIXED! I just had the butterfly valves a turn too tight, loosened them up and it opens/closes freely... for anyone who might run into that.

be sure and loctight those tiny little screws that hold the butterfly to the shaft...if they come out, your engine is gonna eat 'em right up and that is not a good thing ;)
If it works good, it looks good...
