It spins like crazy with a stock starter and 24V. The ARD mag and leaky carbs are my kryptonite right now.

In spite of that I ordered an ebay  900 starter. It has 438 on the end bell also sm220 and .8KW fits 80-83 900,1000,1100. The part number is 31200-438-018.
The newer 900 starters are plentiful and cheap but I have no info that they fit the 750 mounts.

I use a DOHC starter on my high compression 1325cc Kaw. 24 volt start and it spins quickly.  I'm using a pro series 2 ignition controller and it retards the timing on start up to minimize kick back. I've got a stock starter on the new Honda build set up at 24 volts. No retard and it fires right up. I also sheered teeth off a starter when I had the initial timing set too high(it's locked out) with a stock rotor and dyna iplate.

I hung three starter gears on the wall of shame before I stopped and re-grouped. One should not have happened, the float bowls were off. L0L. I had made a couple mistakes on timing the ARD. If not for the fact it was on my Buddy's bike that I'm trying to restore, I'd just run a battery and points.

Funny you say that. I have no problem running points.

My blue green K0 has a pamco only because I took it off of a bike I sold. Everything else has points. A mini sprint guy gave me a stack of points plates he took off of engines that he converted to race motors, I may never buy points again.

Me either. I'll stick with my Dyna S. 🤣

That's the best idea, do you run two batteries on the 24 volt bikes or just plug the starter in to them? I put together a starter button and a lawn tractor starter relay for the engine stand, they will go on the bike when it runs. I'm thinking about two on board batteries but smaller ones.

I run two batteries in series for 24 volt start up only through the solenoid.

I'm using a stock Honda solenoid for now. Whenever it fails, I'll upgrade to a lawnmower solenoid.

Don,
I’ve got a pair of Delco Remy 50MT 24volt  direct drive negative ground starters I can loan you if your still having trouble turning the drag bike’s engine over. With a pair of 8D batteries in series one of the starters alone will crank the bike over too 😜

It's spinning like a champ now that I tried my 2- 12V.  Oddysey batteries (Goldwing or Harley size) on a stock starter. I believe I previously had a weak battery and/or starter. My issue now is second guessing myself and it still not starting, I found the leak down on the sleeve and decided to surface the head.
I still haven't tried the 900 starter, I took the head off before it arrived.
Edit, I made the cable for the 900 starter today and double heat shrinked it.

I gave the Hayabusa starter to a guy that races one.

Question, how are you charging those batteries if you’ve got them wired in series?

Good Q? I have not charged them yet but I can charge one at a time if I want to. The drag bike guys are using one for regular running (ignition) and two for starting. With enough diodes I guess a guy could charge in parallel and run in series.

I charge my batteries separately with a 24 volt start, series set up. I have 2 light weight lithium batteries. I have total loss ignition on the bike. All charging system parts have been removed. Only a cut-down rotor is left on the end of the crank with the starter gear.
