New guy trying to fix a 750a
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:22:10 PM »
Hello everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm still learning the site. Six years ago I purchased two 1977 CB750a's for $300. Both were in pieces and when I put them together one ran so I kept it and gave the other to my uncle. Due to financial complications I was forced to sell the other one, however, earlier this year I was able to buy it back. The bike was neglected by the previous owner and all the hard work I put into it the first time went to waste. Currently it has only 19k on it but its been in western Washington for its entire life so its definitely beyond a factory repair. My plans are to put a round top carb with matching cam/ air box. electronic ignition/ coils/ wires. new seat, strip and repaint it from the ground up, exhaust wrap the headers and either modify and paint the pipes or find new stubby ones. Also I need to reseal the entire engine because it has little oil and gas leaks everywhere. I will be spending a lot of time researching parts but if anyone can point me in the right direction to find the seals that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

One of the member's here put together complete gasket/seals sets for our A bikes:

I don't know if he has any other sets left.  I recall that he had a number of seals custom made for the project.

Send him a message/PM.

Many of the seals are the same as the K models but the two seals ( Inner and Outer ) for the counter shaft are geting very hard to get. Sounds like a good project
