Is that the one from your cx?  ...does it look like it is worn through where it is not supposed to wear through? :o

Yeah, that GL I've been working on.  It made a horrible squealing sound when I turned it over.  I've since torn the whole motor down and aside from those unnatural looking holes I've noticed I'm missing some little bits that go in it as well.  The good news is the CX500/650 and VT500s used the same starter clutch.  Part of me thinks it was taken apart and not put back together right.

hmmm.  On second thought, maybe it is supposed to be like that.  My manual (printed in black and white as less than optimal quality) appears to show a hole in the clutch like mine.  In this thread: http://cx500forum.com/cs/forums/165294/ShowPost.aspx you can clearly see a hole in his starter clutch like mine.  At any rate I got all new plungers, springs, and rollers coming for it.

That looks like the old 500 twin did when it went west, I would suggest another housing
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

bryan, yeah, I agree.  I lucked up and found a NOS starter clutch AND starter clutch gear.
