Today was in the low 70's but the wind was gusting 35 to 40 mph. I basically rode a straight line from one end of town, picked up some parts, and rode home. Almost miserable except the shid eatin grin inside the helmet.

I will not take a $900 camera on a bike.  :P 

Tomorrow is another day.

Actually planning a longer ride today. Let's face it. It's all new to me. Different bike, different power, different handling.

I need to get comfortable on the bike, hit some curves and a open road. Riding from one end of town then back is not much of a "ride".

It brings back memories of the Busa I once had. Not the same by any means but just plain FUN. This is one purchase I will enjoy for a long time. Would of felt bad had I not acted on purchase. Would of been sold had I waited.

It's Steve-o's fault.

Tied up on Saturday. Just a shorty ride today but got it out on the highway.

Here are my first thoughts.

1) It doesn't like to be below 4000 rpm.

2) It likes 5000 even better.

3) I have never put it in 6 TH gear. 5 once to see if it was really there.  :P

4) Reminds me of a tractor. It just keeps pulling and pulling.  8)  Found myself 20 over the posted speed limit many times. 60 in a 40, 70 in a 50.

5) I could loose my license.  :o

6) Brakes are wonderful. After riding old Honda's for a few years they should be huh?

7) Haven't been real aggressive on the handling end as I am still getting comfortable riding it. Just not enough seat time. It is a totally different bike than what I have owned in the past.

I think this will be the preferred bike in the stable. I love it and glad I did not hesitate to buy it.

Some goodies coming my way so stay tuned.  ::)

Very much so. Seller even delivered it to me.  ;) That saved a 200 mile round trip.

Still waiting on the stock parts that were removed. Going to make some changes but waiting on him. Need the rear pegs, brackets and license plate holder as well as stock rear turns.

I like things original and as delivered from the factory. The seat is the only thing I'll change. At this time that is.  :D

Ducati is now on the lift.  ::)

Heard from the seller today. All parts that were removed are being shipped. Great news!

One broke turn signal so I'll inventory parts and order a new one from Ducati.

It's all good.

No worries. I'm not entirely sure it's needed. I don't think it had the 1000 mile belt inspection but I'm working on that information. It was suggested and new OEM belts will be here Friday.

After all, 1462 original miles?  Oh, it's a fun kick in the azz bike to ride.  ;)

Better to know it has fresh belts even with low miles than to risk something. A 9 minute job, eh?
(once you have it on the engine stand like they do and it is torn down to covers off and old belt out of the way.)
How often does Ducati recommend you replace the belts?

My Cummin 6BT I found an operation and maintenance manual for it and they are recommending new filters for fuel every 15k miles. Takes 15qts of oil to do an oil change and that is every 5K miles, no variation tolerated.
Rotella T 15w40 works but, it is 4x the $13-16/gallon plus the cost of the filter. Operating costs aren't going to be anything like gas motors I've worked upon.
Tires are about $1000/ea
Insurance a year is in astronomical figures.

It's going to take more than 9 minutes I can tell you that. I read somewhere the interval but forget. 15K I think.

Was recommended due to age not miles.
