Hello! here is my 73 750.
« on: September 05, 2006, 04:30:58 PM »
After a year and a half of work, it is close to being done, or atleast ridable. This site has helped alot. I have learned alot by just reading all the posts and durring the build, so hopefully I can chip in and help others out. thanks

Very nice indeed - where'd you get the seatpan - looks factory made.  Like the front fender too, and love the black rims.  I just picked up a pair of DID aluminum rims - maybe I'll have them powdercoated  ;D.  Also really really like the black engine - I'd be interested in knowing what you did to refinish it, as I am about to buy a 750F that has a black engine.  I'd like it to look as nice as yours :)

Yeah, looks great!  Are you gonna paint the tank and seat, if so, what color?  Also, will you run side covers?

That looks awesome!  Love the exhaust, and also the bobbed front fender.  Great look overall- very nicely done!

yes, this is my first bike build. I came from working on watercooled VWs, and on a student budget, I thought a bike would be cheaper.
8-9 grand later... my friends think I went a little overboard with my first attempt, but I figure why half-ass it? I pulled this bike out of the weeds with a seized engine. rebored to .5 over with brand new pistons, rings. reground the valves, cleaned up intake ports. rocker assembly from an F engine.
Powdercoated frame, rims, forks, trees
Buchannon stainless spokes
The seat is from caferace.com( having trouble finding a clean way to upholster it)
forks are from a later F bike
machined smooth hubs
dyna s ignition/coils/wires

I had a 4 into one exhaust that was wrapped and cut with no muffler. It looked awesome with the flat black, but very loud. Dynoman had kerkers for around $500, so I saved up.
thank you for all the great comments. Ive got enough spare parts, including an engine and frame, to start on the next one. Ive got so into the bikes in the past 2 years, I dont know if Ill ever get back to the dubs.

Looks killer!  are those GT501's  I'm thinking of getting some and wanted to know what they looked like on the bike.  Did you do the engine work yourself?
