Gouge in cylinder head

was cleaning up the head today around the valves and uncovered this....

But, although it is not good, it is not terrible.
You can try to tap the points back outward with a flat round chisel and could fill the void with some metal epoxy and mill or sand flat.
If I did not have another head, I would probably just try to peen it back with a ball-peen hammer carefully and file it flat.
Are you planning to re-do the head anyway?

Don't sand it out! Just take some 400 and wetsand any of the high spots off. It will be fine.

Clean the combustion chambers, lap the valves, replace the valve seals...

Tap it down gently with a small ball pien....like a 2 or 7 oz, if you can find one...aka gasket hammer..
