Just poking around the clutch on my 550K3 when I noticed an component which isn't mentioned or shown in the Haynes manual. See below...
It looks like two clutch plates, each riveted to a wavy-disc-spring-thing (WDST), which sits between the plates. It appears that the WDST is meant to make the clutch feel "softer" by compressing when the clutch is let out. Anyway, is this standard OEM issue? There's a friction plate replacement in my future, and I wanted to get the story on this gizmo before pressing ahead.
