Bore measurement question
« on: January 27, 2014, 11:18:17 AM »
Could be an inacurate boregauge or the other tool is inacurate or both..

My CB750 is bored to accomodate the POPy 812 pistons, According to Satanic Mechanic this is a 64mm bore.

When I measure it at the top of the cylinder I get 63,9
the pistons measures 63,58.

But when I control measure my BoreGauge thats adjusted to 64mm it measures 65,09

I get a consistant measure from the dial on the bore gauge of one turn and 9

How do I go about to measure if I need to replace my pistons rings or not?
( I dont want to go get new tools at the moment)

A good bore is slightly tight at the top. Hopefully each piston is matched to a certain hole. The critical clearance is from the top-ring to the bottom of the piston skirt. Also check the ring gaps at their highest level in the cylinder..........just to make sure they are not too tight..........as in closed.

The thing is I am Reading in Hondamans book and trying to compare...

and when my Tools don't line up.. Well then I try the Mathematical approach With 3 unknowns...

Just frustrated any tips on getting the measurements right are appreciated
