This to me comes close - RC Cobra engine - 1000cc!! Oversized aluminium gas tank, kerker exhaust, Seeley race frame etc etc....and belongs to a friend of mine...meaning someday I might get to test drive it :-)

Is that Bud's bike??? There aren't many Seely race frames in the country and I know exactly where that one came from if it's his. I believe that's a Yosh exhaust Andy.

Yes that's Bud's bike. He spent all weekend polishing the tank and seat.

He has some tuner built carbs on there now. Since I am sick off my ass right now I can't remember what they are. I will ask him the next time I talk to him.

Just talked to him. There are dual Mikuni 34s on the Seely. He says there he has a set of CRs on the shelf that are going in a 400 big bore.

Now if I could only get my bike out of the back of his shop...

I sent the same pics to Toecutter the other day of the Seeley progress, make sure he sees that its in a good home!

Getting there huh? Thanks to Andy for posting the pictures I'm very rarely on here, but got word of Andy's deeds. I could ride it up and down the back alley right now, but I wouldn't have a rear brake. Gotta sort out the rear piviot shaft issues and make the Tarrozzi rearset linkage, but should tackle that today. Once done, its more seat time for me on my 400f track bike, and eventually, a few laps on the Seeley at the track, like it was meant to be. I have to put the full fairing in for paint soon too.

Mike, the carbs are 2-4 Mike Burke sand cast intakes with twin Mukuni 34mm round slides... nice! They were raced in the late 70s in CA on another bike. The RC Cobra 1000cc "F" engine (yes, an F engine, not a K engine, and the only one I know of, was built in 1980)) came from another guy that had it in a chopper, and yup, Yoshimura exhaust, came with the engine.

Sounds great Bud. If that engine is an F2 I have to say I never heard of one built to Cobra specs....very interesting. It's good to see the bike so well put together....can't wait to see some pics of it rolling on the track.

Mike,
The engine is an F2, made in 1978. Its got an RC 289 cam in it, instead of the normal 315 RC cam, which I think was standard in the K Cobra engines, although I think some came with a 325 RC cam. The 289 cam was the largest cam Russ could stuff into the head and still clear the pistons, since F valves are 2mm larger than K valves. Also, its supposed to make a little more HP than the K Cobra, which when Russ found out, in 1980 (late in the SOCH Cobra game), we was some what suprised and asked his builders why they never before would consider biulding a F Cobra enine before.

The story is that the guy that sent Russ this engine, since it was a F engine, also mailed Russ a blank check and told him to do whatever was needed to make that engine into a 1000cc Cobra engine. So, Russ did just that!

You'd cry if you knew what I paid for the engine, with 3,000 miles on it, and the Yoshimura exhaust was given to me for free when I bought the engine.

Really nice looker, hell of a motor, good overall package.

Colin turned out some nice frame kits for solos but he was more famous as a side car racer,
