Was at the TT last year and plan on attending the Manx GP this year (vintage racing happening the same week). The NW 200 and Southern 100 are on my list as well.

Horrible news. These doctors and marshalls are an amazing bunch of hero's and have the upmost of respect of the racers.

When I crashed at our first round, the corner marshall thought the worst, red flagged the race and was with me in about 30 seconds. Doc Walker, from his post half a track away, hopped on a scooter and arrived just over a minute after it happened and before the ambulance. Bloody awesome and hugely comforting when you're hurt.

no mick he crashed his own bike on the way to an accident .

you are right brent , on this subject i have just returned from what was modestly called the race of legends at jerez in spain . as gardener , spencer, schwantz and all where lining up on the grid i noticed there where no marshals at any corner
the race passed without incident but in the icgp race latter a rider crashed and his bike caught fire , just a small flame at first but in the four minutes it took for the fire truck to arrive the bike was completely burnt out .
i would not liked to have had a serious accident there that day .

Tis a shame he died that way, I wish he could have that moment back. Losing someone like that is needless.

Ah man those guys raced with no marshalls? Even at less than race pace that is goofy because we all know the saying.  ;D  I think of those riders who fought for safety issues to be addressed just a few years before these guys.

they were along way off race pace brent , it was more like a fast parade  . nice to see everyone though and a dozen or so 500s on track made it well worth the four thousand mile round trip !

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Thanks for the link Les
What a terrible lose for the racing community up there.
If it wasn't for the air ambulance and mobile Parras I would have been screwed after my 2011 crash.

Cheers,

This link may be of interest.
It gives an insight into this great man and highlights what a lose he is to Irish road racing.

Cheers,
Brian

Bit late to this, sorry.

Yes much sadness in Ireland over this. Dr John gave huge service to racing and was widely admired and appreciated by riders and fans alike. The only consolation was he died doing what he liked doing. His partner rode pillion on a bike in the funeral cortege so nobody holds any animosity against biking or racing.

RIP doc.

Hmm...sorry Lester, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed these days. :-\
I blame the brain injury back in 2011, but if you where to ask my good wife she'll tell you otherwise.
