pumped carb swap

Just throwing this out there. Finally got my compression test done on my bike that has sat for 20+ years. 150 across the board on a wet test no carbs on.im happy with those numbers.was just wondering if I should spend the 350 to rebuild my carbs which are keyhole pumper or replace them with another set such as cycle x set up. Plan is for this bike to be a street/track bike.1977 cb750 f2

I would just rebuild your carbs, but who is charging you $350?

Crook mechanic. I cleaned them damn good and he's saying allbthe jets are clogged still.. a honda collector, has over thirty,  that owns the honda motorsports in my town was saying should go with the new carb setup. Was saying yhe old p umpers weren't very reliable compared to new cbr technology.

Unless you are doing a big bore kit, I think the OEM carbs keep up just fine. And you can get them ultrasonic cleaned for way cheaper than $350.

The crook mechanic is indeed a crook and an @ss in my opinion. Dunk em/sonic clean/soda blast, whichever you prefer.

You could buy all new OEM jets/needles and get the carbs blasted for less than 350 any day. That is if you don't want to just clean them out carefully

What my main concern is i want to do a big bore so would it not be more beneficial to buy the cycle x duel carb setup? Them being newer technology would the not work better for what im trying to acheive?  A  street/demon.im sure I could sell the p umpers as they are in good condition.

Unless you planning some pretty severe frame mods or a hardtail, the Cyclex carbs don't fit, and I have yet to hear an independant report of them actually performing better than the stockers.  I don't think there are any later model factory cbr carbs that are a good fit/match for these motors either.  That leaves you with a few choices, a set of Mikuni vm26, 28, 29's (29's are gonna cost ya).  Old Suzuki's and Kawasaki's are gonna be the donors and you will have to find adapter intake boots to make them fit...or Keihin CR's (these are gonna really cost ya!)  There are a few guys on here who have had good success with Mikuni RS34's, but it takes a pretty radical engine build to warrant their use.  For your basic, 836cc, cam, and a little head work, the stockers hang in there surprisingly well with some tuning.
If it works good, it looks good...
