Considering a 2 into 4 carburetor set up, any suggestions?
« on: January 24, 2014, 06:44:13 PM »
I have found a 2 into 4 carburetor manifold and carb upgrade set up from cycle xchange's website, but it says,"not recommended for stock frames". Has anyone done this and what troubles did you experience?

I haven't done it but I know you can't fit air cleaners with a stock frame. I knew a guy that had it on his chopper. It ran good but was a bugger when cold. I'm not sure what his state of tune was but it ran good once warmed up.

There was a guy I ran into at a show he had them on his cb750 he had to modify the frame and side cover to have them fit properly. He cut the frame and rewelded it seems like a lot of trouble that has caused a lot of problems for some. Another person I would see at a swap meet was selling his acts the third meet he was down to $150 for the complete setup. That's when I knew they must not be worth a crap.
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

Talked to cycle-x about them awhile back, the frame tubes on a stock bike are right over where the throttle cables enter the top of the mikuni carb. Works great on a hard tail though, I know a guy with a set on a chopped cb900. He likes them a lot, that bike is a monster.

Here is a project thread with good details of how a frame was modded to accommodate the 2 to 4 carb setup.

That would be a 4 carb (stock), modified into a 2 carb set up.
