HM300 pipes
« on: January 28, 2014, 12:05:16 am »
I got a new CB750K1 to help complete my project. It came with some HM300 and HM341 pipes. Rust fell out of one internally, there is no evidence of external rust. I want to put something inside the pipes to minimise the rusting and conserve the pipes. They might sit for a few years or a few months its a bit up in the air at the moment.

What is the best idea? Kerosene? Diesel? Standard engine oil?

Thanks

Some guys like to use fogging oil. You can spray that stuff in there pretty easy.

Compressed air will help you make sure that it's getting everywhere.   I've sprayed some phosporic acid in a set I have followed by a good amount of air to make sure it wasn't pooling anywhere.  I followed that with some fogging oil and more compressed air to make sure everything gets covered.
Just being inside, out of the elements goes a very long way.

Just send the set to me,  and I'll make sure they get heated up at least 3 to 4 times a week.... ;)

I purchased a similar set with crapshoot pipes and mismatched ones at that. I was going to use this

but things have changed now. No idea how good or bad it is, but I'm guessing you were wondering about this?
