I ran 40s on a 1428 KZ with a FBG GPZ head, 500 cam's. I think 40's are a little to much.

joe p : They tried to turn needle without pushing up on needle then turning left or right, and they also stripped out or break off by turning to tight the two screws holes that hold the cap on the carbs. Gast sells a tool to set these carbs but "BRUCE" let us use his GAST TOOL so I did not buy one ...... If you raced KZ'S for 15 years you know who BRUCE is in OHIO ....... ran FBG CARBS on all those DEADLY BRUCE BUILT KZ that won many races and Championships at NHRA, IDBA, PRO-STAR AND DRAGBIKE.COM events. You see a " GOT BRUCE " BIKE IN THE OTHER LANE = You better be on your game in the 1/8 or the 1/4 mile, bet that !!!!

Yeah! My old KZ came form Ohio. Got it a a IDBA race in Memphis. Think I've ran up on him a time are two. Sold my bike last Oct at a PMRA race so i'm out of it now but I like to watch.

joe p : Memphis IDBA WORLD FINALS , BEALE STREET at night, BETTING IN THE STANDS = you bring a tear to my eyes of drag racing motorcycles in the DAY !!!!! Last IDBA race was in 2000 and LE-ANN gave me THE MAX award for helping her put on these races for years.

STROKER BILL: Took the time to measure the center to center of the 34mm flat slides = same as the 29mm round slides I have, but the OS DIA. OF 34'S is 40.25 mm compared to the 34.34mm OS DIA. of the 29's. Could be a hard push to put the 34's into those F-BOOTS. I have Yamaha 1982 XJ750R CV carbs on my 750A with new F-BOOTS that measure 38.10mm OS DIA. which I pushed in with STP lubed on inside of boot and outside of carbs nose. STP is the best rubber lube for O-rings and any tight fitting parts with a press fit.

i have been thinking of running dual webers on the stroker motor. i will probably end up putting the 29's in the 900 motor.

thanks, Medyo, I also want another set of 40 mm Webers! Made the mistake of selling mine to 754 being a nice guy cost me. Can't find a good set reasonable. I sold mine for $275.00 with JM manifolds. Oh well, I'll get some again one day, Bill

STROKER BILL: Yesterday I bought a set of carb holders on e-bay from the guy in Michigan that said they are for 750 SOHC motors to mount 29's carbs = I have a new set of F-model carb boots OEM that I will compare with for OD size and try to put on the 34's with the STP trick = I paid $145 for the set but why buy if they are the same size as stock OEM F-BOOTS ? Do what you think is the right size for your motor and if the 34's are two big I got a set of 33 mm round slides that are tricked out [ like brand new ] to 31.5 mm. A old head builder name Duane Williams gave me a school on the word VORTEX and years later the head guy SHARKIE from INDY [ Brownsburg ] gave me the same school on FASTLANES CYCLES DYNO. Those intake holes on the 750 SOHC are what size MM ported out

? Seen some big holes in KZ and Suzki heads that used Flatslides AND Lectrons. Frank must of have found the program for a 750 base now much bigger CC SOHC motor, watched a guy with a DOHC HONDA with CV carbs go to the final 4 at the $10,000 PAUL GAST race at NORWALK a few year back and was told by one of the best this guy only races at the big money ET races....... he got 4th PLACE MONEY.

Bill, what diameter has the intake runner's been ported to on the stoker head?? What size intake valves??? Just want to do point out there is a significant difference in Honda 8 valve SOHC versus Kaw 8 valve DOHC versus GS 16 valve DOHC.

STROKER BILL : If those intake runners are hogged out to big and thin = first time you have a NOS backfire without carb straps this could blow off carbs and might break intake head runners. I gave the guy who bought my 36mm a set of carb straps that I made to fit on the KZ motors .... You will have a back fire sooner or later with a missed shift or progressive box mishap. If you only knew how many SHOOTOUT SUZUKI motors we switch out at MSP at PRO-STAR EVENTS because of a big bang. You better have DEEP POCKETS when you start racing BLUE bottles and a STROKER motor !!!!! Have you EVER went thru 4 shootout motors at one weekend event

? To make that 750 SOHC based motor run in the 9's Ken AT Cycle X better give you a full ride of sponsorship and a big trailer and tool box , and a boat load [ UPS sent to track side ] of PARTS. Ask Frank about those " GOT Parts " here comes UPS,DHL or FEDEX and you better have a friend with a MIG,TIG and STICK welder to come with you to the track. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

POPS, I HEAR you. No, my once deep pockets....have holes in them!

. I've got to see what's in Cobra engine. King Cobra had a stroker, Cobra's didn't usually. I sold Medyo the 70mm stroker crank and RC Golden rods. NOS will be down the road. Package will be NA to start with. Once we reach the end or want more, then NOS!
Keep the input coming, one things for sure....we building something. I'm back on the big Auto engine stroker with 900F crank and CB1100F rods!

How are you going to start up the big auto? I ran an external starter which required help at every track that I ran at. Otherwise would have needed two starter carts - one for the pits and one for the head of staging lanes. Does the rewound 900f starters handle 1180 cc at 13.5 to 1 compression? Sounds like 24 volts might be needed to self start. Two batteries required for that which is more weight to carry. You also need a really serious rear brake system to hold that on the starting line. Without it, no 10's. There's serious cost to a good rear brake setup. Creative cam chain tensioning and creative primary chain tensioning also to be considered. If it were easy, everybody could build one.

You will be intake constrained - either by port airflow or carb constrictions. If you can figure out an affordable way to mount 38 mm CV carbs to a port that can handle them, you'll be in the low 10's. My 34's limit the top end power of the motor. I got a little slippage on the shift to high gear with 100 horses to the rear wheel without the rings broken in. That's with new steels and frictions for the bike from Honda. I've read about 125 hp being handled by the transmission. I'm putting in the modern car friction plates for the next try with the bike. Remember that you're losing over 20% of the horsepower through the torque converter. Learning what R.C. did back in the day to his Hondamatic might help avoid some potential issues listed above.
Running a 10 second Hondamatic is far easier on the wallet than the clutch version. No end of season teardown needed unless you're wearing out the clutch packs. Half a season for Bear with 135 hp motors is equal to how many events where the bike runs about 6 miles under power? With about 15 events to an average season, that's 90 miles a year. I wouldn't worry before 200 miles if it's built right. Freshen the clutch packs every 2 years and it can make you some money (even if I don't dial the bike

) I still believe clutches for numbers and fun; 'matics for $$.

2 batteries....1 large...one small...starts a GS 1326 with 13.5 all day long....and big busa's. No worries there....I'd just send the starter to Paul Casio....great guy....real old school Pro Stock.

Now the rear brake Jon is talking about is an issue that should have been addressed years ago to be perfectly honest.

yep, oh well,Wimpie says that's what tomorrow's for! Actually plan on sending a starter to Paul ,want to see if he modifies the 900F one. With 900F crank, probably use remote starter on it. Want to put one on Calendar Girl! Tired of kicking it.

Paul is a great guy....I get that after talking to him on the phone. Funny thing is Bill.....you sent me that old drag newspaper and there was a small article on him in there. I copied it and sent it with Juha's starter and he really liked it. We had a great conversation on the phone after that. Conversation before all that was great as well just to be clear. So.....you helped all that happen!

STROKER BILL: Got those e-bay SPECIAL carb boots for a SOHC 750 to mount 29's [ $145 ] and guess what = same size holes as the HONDA OEM JAPAN made F-BOOTS I bought for $90. Those SPECIAL boots were much harder than the OEM HONDA JAPAN made boots. You could never push 34mm flat slides in them holes without using a CUTTING TORCH to MELT and STRECH, SAVE YOUR MONEY SOHC 750 BUILDERS !!!! But the true fact is no matter what size carbs you use , no matter how much those runners are hogged out = the inside diameter of those rubber boots are still 30.33mm on new OEM or after market boots.
BILL, take that rolling chassis , slide that wheel back to 72", Stroker all motor, lockup of KEN'S , Tracy body NO FRONT FENDER [ TOP FUEL STYLE ], NO WHEELIE BAR , two step, air shifter and MPS air clutch, SHINKO tire, Small front Tracy fairing and if that front wheel gets pass 6" in the air I will send you a plan for anti-wheelie device made with a BUSA tip over switch. Crank those carbs full open and let off that air clutch button...... PS. hold on hit that other [ SHIFT ] button when the shift light comes on = big smile at 1320' = bet that.

Just like England a couple of years back, had to walk to work for two days as the car was stuck.
I think ours was deeper though. hahaha It's surprising how easy it is to bring a place to a stand still when a town or city isn't geared up for it. Do they even have snow ploughs in Florida.
