New guy from Adelaide, Australia
« on: February 17, 2013, 04:04:01 PM »
Hi all, been lurking for a bit and thought I'd best introduce myself.
I'm Brent, and am currently trying to piece together an old k2 750 honda from boxes.
This bike was my uncles, who crashed it, bought a few front end parts to replace, then wheeled it into his shed where it sat for the next 15-20 years.
About 10 years ago, my father grabbed the bike, got it running (barely), at which point I had my first ride (also barely!)
He then stripped most of the bike and boxed the parts to be refurbished or replaced.
Fast forward to today, I am attempting to piece those parts together and replace what is no good, it will not be an original resto, most likely cafe build.
The frame is '72, the motor '75, and I have no idea what the front end is, I hope someone can help me there.
The front rim has twin discs, but only one calliper is with the bike.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Time for a long overdue update... Im doing this from my phone so will likely start a new thread withpcs tonight.
Found that the engine was seized and was planning to rebuild the top end anyway, so out came the motor. Once i got it open, i found surface rust on cyl 3 holding it in place. A block of wood and wd40 fixed that right up.
Unfortunately for me, the rings on 3 were all stuck in the cyl grooves, plus one cracked ring. All the other cylinders were quite good.
I pulled cylinder 3 off to soak in atf in the hope of reusing it, which is when i discovered I have some Henry Abe 64mm pistons in there! All marked HA-64 TOHO CB810!
Now i really hope those rings come off, otherwise i may have 3 cylinders with rings for sale...
