CB750 cam question
« on: February 01, 2014, 02:39:39 AM »
Hi all, made the mistake of posting this in the project section so now Ive moved this to here.
I recently opened my engine for a rebuild and found that i have 810 pistons, and was told to check the cam, so here we are....
Im not sure what numbers im looking for, just want to know if its stock or not.
The only numbers i can see is a '13' next to the sprocket.
There is also a very faint 'BT' (I think?)  stamped near the end.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check the end of the cam for something stamped such as numbers, the end that doesn't have an internal thread for a bolt.

Thanks Ace, neither end have anything stamped on it. Probably safe to say not a stock cam?

Not sure about the 'BT' stamp. Cam lobes haven't been built up, R13 is normal marking.

Have you got anything to compare it against?

No I don't unfortunately, unless I convince a mate to rebuild his bike! Not likely.
Thanks for the help, Ill try some local wreckers and are what they have.

Brent ; If you have the tools to measure the lift, I'm sure that specs. for cams can be found with a little Googling. Lots of aftermarket cam makers will list their specs. online. You can get a basic idea of the overall list by comparing yours to theirs. Hope this helps.   ...cougar...
