Thread resurrection:

And what about the basic stuff for newer/newish bikes? When I was still young and riding centuries Bike Nashbar was the trusted source. Probably because they had a good mailorder catalog (pre-internet) for everything the local bike shop couldn't offer. I ask because Im due for tires and tubes and curious of other trusted companies.

^ support your local bike shop as much as possible, especially for simple stuff like tires and tubes.

I'm blessed to get to ride 18 miles round trip into work each day. Company I work for has a nice bike room with lockers and showers - Love it. I actually think bicycle riding skills translate very well to motorcycle riding. (thoughts?)

As someone who went from using a bicycle as my main means of transportation to an hour commute by car either way for work I'm very envious of that commute.

I agree - cycling taught me to ride defensively and treat all cars as though they were actively out to get me (paranoid maybe but safety is safety). Key state of mind when riding, I think.

I love bikes. Anyone here a fan of fixies? I know they're pretty dangerous to get into but still my favorite method of cardio exercise.

I'm not sure that being a good bicycler will equate into uh being a better motorcycle rider however you are on 2 wheels balancing it..
