On my way to pic up a used set of 1982 900 f coils will they work okay on my 72 750  points system

Here is a thread I found about putting 900F coils into a 550. Hondaman seems to think it will work but it will work your charging system harder and will also wear your points out faster due to larger draw.

It is a common Mod since the 900 coils had removable ignition wires.

Said f&%# it and am going with stock coils and drill out the wires to add longer length wires

Yes, the 900 coils will work but best with an extra 1,5 Ohm ballastresistor, so the draw is limited and your points will not burn. It's an old trick. For instance: for cars Bosch had the normal coil (blue) coil and the socalled supercoil (red) which was 3 Ohms with an extra (switchable) ballastresistor added.

Hondaman has them. For some reason he offers them as a pack. Doesn't cost much.

Plus those are 25 watt Dale resistors. Probably overkill, but worth the price for sure.
