Hi all. I'm a new kid on the block here. Can anyone please tell me what the original colour of my 1972 CB500/four should be? I want to restore it to its deserved former glory.
Thanx Chris.

Glenn Stauffer:
You had three color schemes to choose from that year: Candy Jet Green with Black, Candy Garnet Brown with Black, or Candy Gold with Black.

Now, finding matches for those colors is going to be tough.  This information is from a guide to Honda colors that Lubritech published some time ago.  Likely no longer valid, but this gives you some idea as to how these bikes were painted.

Lubritech have gone out of business and their colour codes are no longer valid, I've had the same problem trying to get my 500K1 back to standard. Depending on where you are...One of us here has a set-up to mix these colours in the US. (Maybe along at sometime) and will post them to you (Forget your name appologies.). RS Paints in the UK will take the Chassis No. and give you the colour in question (www.rspaint or motorcyclepaint.co.uk - not sure) but they won't post out of the UK, I ended up spending about 1.5 hours in the shop going through colour cards and eventually picked out a brown for a Dacia (some eastern block car)"similar" to the Candy Garnet as listed. (be carefull with the Lubritech paint code - I found that the equivilant listed for this ended up being a Burgendy red.......Nice but not Candy Garnet Brown!)
Mines close enough and if your not a fanatic nobody will bother to notice the difference if any.
