which would be better?
« on: February 03, 2014, 11:05:14 am »
Have a 78 750 with pd carbs and a very nice 75 model tank with the two fuel outlet nipples. Would it be better to just cap one off whith some heavy duty rubber vacum type caps and saftey wire or run a t splitter that runs both fuel outlets to a single line for the pd carbs? Any pros or cons? Just wondering what guys think. I am leaning toward a single line and capping the other at the moment for a clean look. Shoyldnt matter which I cap right? Was thinking they both feed the same with the open and reserve selections.

Personally I'd use the left side, provided you've got enough clearance, and cap the right. Purely based on the theory that the less line you have to use, the neater the look.

I think you may be confused on the petcock setup. IINM the 2 out lets are only separated by 1/2", not one on each side of the tank, so the length of fuel line is the same. If they both work on "on" and "reserve", just cap one off. Personally I would run a "Y" at the petcock to be sure I always had enough fuel going to the carbs. (which doesn't make sense because no matter how many of the same size lines you have it will only flow what the single line flows, so cap the other outlet)

Sorry, yes I was thinking one either side. Thanks for putting me right. Always learning!
