Apart from reasonably rare, I've heard they're good vibrators for long distance (compared to the 4s) similar to the 350 & 450 twins, others may argue differently.

+1 vibrators (good for women!). CL/CB450 is the way to go.

They don't vibrate as bad or just more common?

Good one, Stev-o :)  Andy, yes the 350 is the more common one, with 450 & 500 behind them.

Seem like they would be easier to work on but I do like the smoothness of the 4s

+1 can't beat a four for smoothness.  What is harder to work on? Or is it just because it has more cylinders, or costs more?  (But it will put smile on your face)

the CB500T was the evolution of the 1967-1974 cb450 Dual cam engine. Parts between the two are mostly interchangible as the stroke was just increased to make it a 500. All those engine have torsion bar valve springs instead of standard coil springs and over time those springs tend to wear.

All the smaller honda twins from the 70's have top end oil starvation at high rpm over long periods of time. Basically if you ride it for 7 hours at 80+ mph you'll probably break something. No gaurantees tho as those engines are tough. They are all High volume low pressure engines making 15psi oil pressure max at redline.

The cb450 is a popualr race bike and thus there are places to buy speed parts including top end oiling kits. Not as popular as the 350 though.

Maintenance Matters Most

the oilpump on 450 and 500 /(piston pump)are not the same..but both are too small..it have also no varning light...think the pressure is to low to press the indikator so they left it aut..this engines have bearings in all..so no need for high preessure oil to  the crank ..its just a erlyer engine desein from erly 60 most like the cb 72-77.but vith tvin cams to get better valve timing
