Got the tapered bearings pressed on.

And bronze swing arm bushings installed.

Found out that one of the bolt holes on the lower triple tree has some buggered up or cross threaded threads. Sure wish I had known that when it was all apart!
My buddy has a thread chaser, tap/die set. I'll take the frame up there and clean up the threads.

Forks are up in the triples because they're CB750 forks. The part below the triple is the same length as a stock CB550. I'll see how it feels once I get rear sets installed and a seat built, but I now have the option of running the clip on's on top of the triple tree.

And, we have a roller! I still have to install the brake stay, rod, etc. The plan is to get the engine in and take it up to 2Topia cycles so Nate and the gang can weld up some rear set supports. While it's there, I'll probably go ahead and have the top end done (Hi Comp. pistons, 650 cam, rebuilt head, etc.), and have a small tab made for the NightHawk oil cooler.

Once I get it home from there, it should really move fast!

Looks good so far Scott. The nighthawk oil cooler can you fill me in a bit on what is needed to make that work. The next project been thinking about adding one need to do some research on it. Is there any advantage of running the clip on's where you have them versus the top other than gas tank clearance i have seen both ways just curious.

 're: Clip ons
I think it's just a personal preference and what's most comfortable. I may end up with them on top, after seat and rear sets are installed and I can see how it feels.

This will be my first time using the Nighthawk oil cooler. It has a plate that sandwiches between the oil filter and engine case. I know you have to file down the fins on the engine case just a bit. I'll be sure to document it when I get to it.

Man....it's been a long time since I updated this thread. The bike took a back seat for a little while but recently I've gotten some stuff done.

Mitch at Vulgar Cycles fabbed up this nifty metal seat pan for me. He also made some hangers for the rear sets, a few random brackets, a battery box for the Ballistic 8 cell battery, an electronics tray, etc.

The battery will be located on the swing arm.

I'm working on getting the Nighthawk oil cooler finished. The mounts are there and, despite how it looks, it clears the exhaust by a mile.

I have to machine out this raised portion on the adapter plate. It will then fit over the stock boss on the lower engine case and bolt right up.

The wiring harness is laid and about 85% of the connections are done. There's a little bit of work to do to get everything located in the tray and battery power where it needs to be.
I ordered a combination regulator/rectifier today, as well as a Danmoto Nano digital cockpit.

Here it is as of yesterday. The CB1100F shocks made a HUGE difference in the stance. The forks are CB750, so they're longer than 550 shocks. That enabled me to run the clip ons on top of the triple tree. I lowered the front end just a few mm's over the stock CB550 height. That, along with the shocks, gives me a nice stance without really screwing up the stock geometry too much.

Cool project, Scott. Looks like you need to sweep up a fresh front tire though?

Oh, those are just rollers. I have a set of Lester's with near new Shinko 712's, but I'm leaning towards running the Henry Abe's. I just can't decide whether to swap over the tires or go with something.....different...
No Firestones, though. I'm over that look.

Absolutely right. What you can't see in the picture are ZRX parts, CB400F parts, XS650 parts. They're behind the bed, under the bed, in the closet, the dresser drawers....

That's one reason my GF fell for me; she saw a tachometer and VW parts in the closet back when we were dating.

I'm digging the whole seat on the bike on page one. Where can a guy get one like it but for a 750? I wouldn't want to have to cut the frame though so I could go back to a 2 up seat if desired. That seat really rocks in my eyes. I like the Lesters too.

I don't think thats a KZ pan, it looks to be fabricated from metal...

It's from this eBay seller. He doesn't have anything listed at the moment.

I think Dime City Cycles sells one, too, but there's is a little more expensive. I bought that one used off an XS650 forum, I think.

That's correct. I have a KZ tail section and asked Mitch at Vulgar Cycles to fab up a pan using it; he said he could make a whole pan that matched the lines of the tank and fit the bike better. That's all hand made with a removable section for upholstery. He did mimic the lines of the KZ piece.

Scott, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may want to check clearance between the cooler & the front wheel or fender if you use one. With the forks compressed at full travel things may run amuck! Otherwise I bet you're happy to start building.
