Britain's oldest mod refuses to give up her scooter
« on: February 05, 2014, 02:59:36 am »
She may be at an age where most slow down, but Britain's oldest mod has refused to give up her beloved Vespa scooter, despite her children begging her to stop.

Grandmother-of-two Maureen Lear, who is 70 next month, has owned around 30 scooters since she passed her test at the age of 18 in 1961 and was part of the mod gang riots in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

Maureen, from Colchester in Essex, drove a silver 125 Vespa in the 1960s and  said that she still loves the adrenalin-rush of zipping through rush-hour traffic

I don't think 70 is old. I sure hope I will be riding till the day I die.

Good on her. The scooter is what's keeping her young. Have her children ever ridden bikes?

Hope I'm still riding at 70, I'll maybe take my bike out once in a while as well.  ;)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I see this lady around a lot - she lives ten miles from me!

She doesn't attend our local bike night in the summer though - if she did I would introduce her to my 73yr old mate on his TR6, and another friend of mine who rides an R1 Yam at the age of 75!

Guess you aren't watching Jim Tom on Moonshiners  ;)

Come to think of it that might be Sam's girlfriend trying to keep up with him on his drag bikes
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
