1975 CB550 Swing arm zerk replacement how to
« on: February 06, 2014, 07:18:53 AM »
Greetings,
Does anyone have a set of pics or a how  - to on the replacement of the Japanese style to US standard grease zerks on the swing arm bolt?   Bike only has 8k milles and the hardware is in good shape overall, but while I have it apart I want to make this change.   I read that someone just pulled the originals with a pair of pliers, but there was no description about how to replace with the new zerks.  Do the holes need to be tapped?  And if so, what size?   Thanks!

you're on the right track.  just go to your local auto parts store and pick up a size and drill/tap the hole that fits.

Depents on whether you buy american or metric fittings, both fit the grease gun the same but have different threads

that bolt is very hard aswell,go easy not to snap a tap in there, four or five threads is plenty.
