Hello everybody.

I just picked up a '74 CB550.

Not sure what direction I'm going to go with it but the fairing and luggage will surely go.

Welcome. The fairing is a bit overpowering, isn't it? The bike looks good, though.

Welcome.
That 550 looks pretty clean, like it's been parked in some old man's heated garage. Does it run?
Agreed , the fairing is too big for the machine and detracts from the overall beautiful design.
Bags are great if you'll be using them, a little lame looking if you don't , especially in black.
I've seen that backrest before, it's impossible to look cool mounting any machine with one of those...I guess the point is ,once you are on it stay on it as long as you can...or always have a sleepingbag tied up to it, adds intrigue , tough guy scenario,"He's ready to ride and sleep anywhere".
I take those off too, can't raise my leg up over it anymore.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

I bet that paint will refurbish beautifully! Some very careful wet sanding and buffing, and it should pop.

If you decide you want a more aggressive build, I've got a brand new Benjies tank I'd swap you for it and those side covers. Love that color...

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S.
