Topic: Who's coated your carbs? and how long has it lasted?

Okay experts
Am cleaning and refurbishing my carbs.
After soaking in Berrymans and using the homemade soda blaster on the bodies.
I can see a thin coating that is somewhat splotchy on the bodies. Caps look like they were clear coated.
Do you recommend coating the bodies with anything? The caps?
Or just oil them and let them go and polish every now and then.
My twin carbs have just darkened over the years.
I'm fine with that too. Just never noticed the clear coat before.

Clear on the caps and bowls.  There is a sort of iridescent finish on the bodies.  Berryman's removes this and will make the metal look dull.  Soda blasting, will not remove it.  Most people do not coat the bodies other than powder coat which is more for aesthetics.

Should add that to the Carb Faq "Do not use Berrymans".
Not the end of the world though.

harisuluv, do you clear coat the caps, if so, with what?

If you used Berryman's it's not the end of the world, don't sweat it.

I do not clear coat the polished parts.
